Please note that due to the current situation regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, all individual appointments will take place as virtual one-on-one conversations during the Science Forum.
As part of the Science Forum, the Green Talents moreover get the unique chance to visit German sustainability experts of their choice and discuss their current research with them. To nominate these experts is already an essential part of the application to the programme. The selected interlocutors are contacted by the organisers of the forum, who provide information about the young researchers, make appointments and plan accommodation and transport for the participants. Travelling on their own during those 2-3 days, the Green Talents are equipped with detailed descriptions of how to find their way around, using public transportation.
The individual appointments form a crucial part of the Science Forum. Offered the rare opportunity to specifically talk about projects and potential research collaborations with some of the brightest minds in the country, the possibility of a BMBF-funded research stay in Germany the year after the forum might serve as a valuable starting point. This is why the applicants should chose their experts wisely and – if selected as one of the 25 Green Talents – should prepare themselves very well for these individual meetings. Visiting the experts in their respective facilities can already provide the awardees with a first impression of what working and researching in Germany could be like. Moreover, they make important contacts and expand their professional network.
